Castellina in Chianti is located on a ridge between the valleys of the Arbia, Elsa and Pesa rivers. The county of Castellina is entirely within the Chianti Classico wine zone. The town is of Etruscan and Roman origin and then an important Florentine garrison.
The lovely countryside in Chianti is made for motoring; rolling hills, vinyards, olive groves and cypress trees-- the entire area is beautiful. Don't forget the vino! You'll have fun sampling and buying on your trip. Watch for the following signs: Vendita diretta and degustare/ degustazione where you can taste and buy wine.
Close by (35 km) is beautiful Florence the "Cradle of the Renaissance". This unforgettable city has so much to see you must devote several days to just to scratch the historic surface. Florence sits on the banks of the Arno River. Between the 13th and 16th centuries, Florence became a mecca for artists, scholars and architects. The artisans were supported by wealthy patrons and filled the city with some of the most precious works of art ever known.
Also close by is Siena (25 km). It's a lovely, chic town filled with elegant, simple treasures. Siena is a walled city built around a town center called "the Campo". The Campo is a grand and lovely square, shaped like a shell and filled with cafes, shops, restaurants, palazzi and the Palazzo, which contains the Civic Museum and the town hall. The museum is not to be missed, and while your in town climb the Torre del Mangia (bell tower) and enjoy the views.

Located 5 km from Castellina in Chianti, the 4 room home is surrounded by trees, meadows and fields.
La Casetta di Barabano has over 1,900 square ft on 2 levels. The ground floor is decorated with antique and tasteful furnishings. The living room has satellite-TV and CD-player.
