Montreux, the "Pearl of the Riviera", enjoys a pleasant climate thanks to its privileged location on the shores of Lake Geneva and the foot of the Swiss Alps. The city is famous for its Jazz Festival in July, but there is so much more to experience here.
Montreux makes the perfect hub to explore all that Switzerland has to offer. The cities of Montreau, Vevey and Lausanne have lovely historic districts, lake-front prominades and spectacular views. Take a relaxing cruise along the coast of Lake Geneva or to Evian in France. 32 km of footpaths wind through the vinyards of Lavaux between Lausanne and Montreux. If sports and fitness are your passion there are water sports, tennis, golf, horse-riding, hiking and cycling or visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
The diversity of excursions mind-boggling. Be it by car, bus, train or boat, there is never a dull moment from your base in the Swiss Riviera. Take a Panoramic train to Château-d'Oex for a ballon ride in the Alps or a cog railway to the Rochers de Naye. Ride the cable car in Les Diablerets to Galcier 3000 (3,000m/9843ft) and dine in a mountain top restaurant designed by architect Mario Botta. Chamonix/Mont Blanc are close and Zermatt is not to be missed; ride Europe's highest cable car to the Klein Matterhorn observatory at 3885m/12,747 ft with a visit to the glacial grotto.
Montreux-Vevey, Lausanne and Geneva are great locations for group trips. The variety of excursions and activities, great transportation and natural attractions insure that everyone has a wonderful time.

Hotel Royal Plaza Montreux is located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva in the heart of Montreux. The hotel offers outstanding facilities in a wonderful setting overlooking the lake and the magnificent Alps.
The Royal Plaza built in 1982, was recently renovated and provides guests with a majority of rooms facing the lake, each with its own balcony. Indeed, the hotel was described by one American guest as “the hotel with the one million dollar view”. The lobby and the new Sunset Bar, with its burnished copper ceiling and wall-to-wall windows, offer panoramic views of the lake and the mountains beyond. Guests can enjoy cocktails and canapés and drink in the view as they watch the sun go down.
The hotel’s à la carte restaurant, La Croisette, serves international and local cuisine to the highest standards. Fish from Lake Geneva is one of the specialities of Chef Franck Berthier. The Mediterranean-style Café du Lac, right by the lakeshore promenade, serves light meals at lunchtime and evenings as well as ice-cream, pastries, coffee and afternoon tea. The airy Belvedere is open for breakfast daily, Sunday brunch, themed evenings and food festivals. It is also available for private functions.
